To receive Freeview HD you will need:
- HD ready TV
- A new HD Set Top Box capable of receiving the new HD MPEG-4 broadcasts
Freeview HD Set top boxes are expected to be available by Spring 2010.
Later in the year expect to see new High Definition TV’s capable of receiving the new HD MPEG-4 broadcasts therefore eliminating the need for a set top box. If you have an existing HD TV with a built in Freeview receiver, this will NOT be able to receive Freeview HD you will need to purchase a new Freeview HD Set top box capable of receiving the new HD MPEG-4 broadcasts.
If you can receive normal standard definition Freeview without any problems after digital switchover there should be no need to replace or upgrade your existing TV aerial.
Remember: To receive Freeview HD you must wait until Freeview HD has been enabled in your area this could happen before your official digital switchover date as the Freesat HD rollout has been accelerated. See our when can I get it? section to see when your area is due to to be enabled.
